JCDecaux and Reed Pacific Media partnered up to deliver a unique scented experience in Queensland, Australia for McDonald’s for its new delicious Choc Chip Hotcakes! The McDonald’s advertising campaign used the power of smell to seduce passersby, creating cravings and driving traffic in store.
McDonald’s have introduced $1 Choc Chip Hotcakes, giving their famous hotcakes a brand new twist. As a result, McDonald’s is rewarding the city by filling up the streets with the delicious smell of chocolate chips and pancakes. Thus, consumers passing by are encouraged to push a button on the out of home panels to experience the chocolatey goodness of Choc Chip Hotcakes – guaranteed to sweeten their day!
Reed Pacific Media has exclusively developed this custom choc chip hotcakes scent and provided dispensing technology. In addition, JCDECAUX, Leo Burnett and UM Brisbane partnered with us to develop the campaign.
Scented Out of Home Technologies
Advertising using scented experiential advertising out-of-home panels are a great way to entice consumers. For reference, 80% of the taste comes from the sense of the smell. For this McDonald’s advertising campaign, it became a strategic way to sample their new product.
